2005 Mock Trial team, semi-finalists
in county competition
| |
Mock Trial
As of 2003, Valley Christian has joined over 20 other schools in
Santa Clara county to participate in the Mock Trial competition
created by the Constitutional Rights Foundation (CRF). This national
competition is held at the downtown courthouse each February and
is based on a case CRF creates involving potential issues facing
America's youth, such as arson, identity theft, and racing. The
Mock Trial program allows students to gain a further understanding
of the legal system, while strengthening their presentation skills
and analytical thinking.
The VCHS Mock Trial team is made up of 20 students based
on tryouts at the beginning of the year. Roles on the
team include eight attorneys, eight witnesses, a bailiff,
a clerk, and alternates. The team meets with our two
volunteer trial attorneys on Monday evenings from 5:30 -
8:30 p.m., with several additional practices added as needed.
