Elementary
Technology
Providing students with a variety of effective technologies is
important at Valley Christian Schools. Over the past several years
VCS has aggressively pursued upgrading the technology used by
students and staff.
In 1997 parents, teachers, staff and
students successfully wired the entire elementary campus in one
day! Their efforts resulted in Internet access in every classroom
and office, and a fully networked lab of thirty computers.
With the developmental of our new
elementary campus, Valley has once again made a commitment to
design a technology rich environment. Instead of a single computer
lab shared among all classes each class will have a mini lab of
Internet ready computers. In addition to the mini lab, mobile
computer carts will provide additional computers available so
that a 1:1 Computer to Child ratio can be achieved in any classroom.
Currently two mobile AlphaSmart keyboard
labs are made available to students for writing on a variety of
topics as well as a tool to teach and practice keyboarding. These
portable units are earmarked to provide students with the capability
to take their computing powers with them on field trips and other
excursions.
Rich Media Carts allow teachers to project computer programs,
video, Internet sites or student work to an entire class. Virtual
field trips to Williamsburg, Washington DC and other national/international
sites will be available to students at Valley Christian.
Technology plays a key role in communication
today. Developing excellent communicators is one of Valley’s
primary educational goals. At Valley we strive to equip our students
with the most up to date equipment and training available.
