College Placement
While formal preparation for college begins
in grade nine with academic counseling on programs and courses,
direct college advising begins during grade eleven. The Guidance
Counselor, student and parents discuss appropriate colleges that
are being considered. An extensive collection of college catalogs
as well as CD ROM descriptions of schools and internet connection
to WEB pages detailing colleges and universities are available
to students. Students are encouraged to attend both the Santa
Clara County College Fair and Christian College Fair (held at
VCHS). Students are also encouraged to meet individually with
college representatives when they visit the campus. Seniors are
encouraged to visit colleges of interest and are allowed five
days during school for such visits.
VCS rates above the national average in
academic testing. The Junior High and High Schools offer extensive
honors and advanced placement course opportunities. Over ninety-five
